Jermaine Williams, 23, of Vernon, was found around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, on the shoulder area of westbound Route 2 at Exit 4 in the town of East Hartford, said Connecticut State Police.
According to witnesses in the area, they observed what they believed was a person lying in the travel portion of the roadway. Troop H desk personnel were later notified that a DOT worker located his body in the shoulder area, state police said.
Following an investigation, Williams' death was determined to be a homicide, said state police.
Detectives from Central District Major Crimes Squad responded to the scene and assumed the homicide investigation.
The Medical Examiner’s office will be conducting an autopsy to determine a cause of death.
